Derry

Citizens in democracies must be constantly vigilant and recognize that rights to demonstrate should be valued and respected. They must be brave and alert to risks and dangers of other people (even in uniform) violating their rights and worse. There are sometimes unanticipated, uncontrollable, and interminable costs that even the violators themselves don't want.

"David Cameron on Bloody Sunday report: 'I am deeply sorry.'"

"The Bloody Sunday killings were unjustified and unjustifiable, the Prime Minster has said. Thirteen marchers were shot dead on 30 January 1972 in Londonderry when British paratroopers opened fire on crowds at a civil rights demonstration."
