We simply can't tackle the greatest challenges facing our planet and our communities right now — chief among them, the climate crisis — without a functioning democracy.
Yet our voting rights are under attack. Since January, 48 states have introduced nearly 400 bills that amount to outright voter suppression. We cannot let this assault stand.
NRDC has joined with our partners to support the March On for Voting Rights on August 28 and demand that Congress act now to pass federal voting rights legislation.
Join us at the march in Washington, D.C., on the 28th or at one of the many satellite in-person or virtual events across the country this week. Find an event near you.
Despicable anti-voting rights bills across the country could reduce voter turnout by banning ballot drop boxes and mail-in voting, reducing early voting days and hours, restricting who is eligible for mail-in ballots, and even making it a crime to offer water to voters waiting in long lines. And these restrictions disproportionately impact low-income and communities of color.
For the sake of our communities and our future on this earth, we must fight to protect each and every person's fundamental right to be heard.
Please help stand up for voting rights by joining a March On for Voting Rights event near you this week.
Thanks for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Angela Manso National Outreach Director, NRDC
P.S. Remember, if you do choose to attend an in-person event, please take precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure. That means wearing a mask, standing six feet apart from others, and getting vaccinated if you're eligible. And if you're not comfortable hitting the pavement just yet, that's okay! There are plenty of virtual events you can attend at home. Find your event. |
